More Softies: We got cows!

Ha, almost forgot about this photo. One last part of the gift for the mom on Saturday, actually for the cute baby boy, was a set of little softies: a chick, a penguin, a beaver, and one of these three cows.

I think the cow was the favorite of the four among shower guests. Essentially I copied LiEr’s Divine Bovine, just used the black-n-white check for the cow’s underside. (All my other softies have distinguishable bottoms; wanted these to “match.”)

By the way, isn’t that a great title for a post about cows? Divine Bovine? I was not quite as creative; pulled my title from a movie quote. Bonus points for the person who can name the movie. The full bit is “I gotta go, Julia. We got cows.

  1. Twister. Love that movie - as stupid as it essentially is!! Awesome cows -- I love the udder! :-)

  2. You better stop with all this "baby" stuff. I want another baby, now! Take a deep breath, Jenny....the feelings will pass!! :) I should just adopt one.

  3. Wow, Karin, you've been very productive! I can' keep up with commenting, even! The cows turned out great and I must say I like how the udders in yours lie flat down from a base seam rather than sticking out of a side seam. Mine seem somehow.... vulgar on hindsight. Hey YOU'RE the one who started the pyramid animal craze! What's next now....raccoons, pigs, bunnies, saber-toothed tigers, peacocks, frogs (googly eyes, long red tongue with fly sewn on elasticize it so it rolls up to reveal fly), squirrels (bushy tail, acorn), sheep/rams (woolly with curling horns) - endless possibilities, too little time. You sew and I'll covet!

  4. Ding ding ding - you got it, Dee!

Maybe you should just get a puppy, Jenny. Wait, too much shedding hair. How about a fish?

LiEr, i went round and round trying to decide where to put that udder. Love all your other ideas too -- already did the squirrel minus the acorn in Dec... I thought I was done but with this list as inspiration, maybe i WILL keep going. (Gotta keep Jenny in "baby" mode! ha ha!)

  5. I would rather have 8 babies.....over a dog!!! :) I couldn't imagine spending money on a creature that will serve ZERO purpose in this life. (Sorry, all you animal lovers out there.)

  6. This is my favorite of them all! How many are in your collection altogether now? I can't keep up! You need one of those can thingys that moo when you tip it upside down to put inside them.

  7. Jenny, you crack me up.

Suz, the zoo now includes a chick, penguin, kangaroo, elephant, squirrel, beaver, and cow. Oh, and how I longed for one of those tippy moo toys. Thought I'd seen them at ToyZone (local toy shop) but the small ones that would've fit inside were a) electronic with a button, not tippy, and b) didn't include a cow sound. The tippy ones were too big to fit... plus they were out of cow sounds there too. : (

  9. thanks, Kerri. so glad I had LiEr (at ikatbag.blogspot.com) to inspire me! i love the way we can all learn from each other, be inspired, try something new based on that others have shown us... Yet another reason I love the internet, and the connections it provides...
